Damyang-gun, Jeollanam-do is making efforts to create a safe environment around schools.
On the 4th, Damyang-gun announced that it has been promoting the ‘Youth Harmful Environment Out!’ campaign and conducting intensive inspections and crackdowns on harmful environments for youth around schools.
This campaign involved five related organizations including Damyang-gun, Damyang Police Station, Damyang Office of Education, Youth Harmful Environment Monitoring Group, and Damyang Youth Counseling and Welfare Center, gathering in front of Damyang High School’s gate to carry out the campaign.
Promotion activities for improving and preventing harmful environments for youth were conducted mainly around the school front and the downtown area.
The inspection team visited convenience stores and other places to check whether signs prohibiting the sale of alcohol and tobacco to youth were displayed, and distributed prohibition stickers to stores without such signs, promoting the ban on selling harmful products to youth.
The county plans to take corrective actions against businesses violating the Youth Protection Act and impose fines step-by-step if the corrective orders are not followed.
Seosaenghyun, chairman of the Youth Harmful Environment Monitoring Group, said, “We appreciate the active cooperation of business owners and residents, and we will continue our activities for the future of Damyang-gun’s youth.”
