Bestseller: ‘Shrek Pack’ to Reduce Heat Sensation

On the 5th, in celebration of Arbor Day, ‘Lush,’ a leading brand in vegan cosmetics, is gaining attention. This is because, in addition to opposing animal testing and not using animal-derived ingredients, it practices various eco-friendly management methods such as eliminating unnecessary packaging and using environmentally friendly raw materials.

Lush, a global company operating over 930 stores in 51 countries including Korea, produces and sells a variety of products such as bath bombs, body care, face care, hair care, and perfumes. It is known for using only ‘good ingredients’ like fresh fruits, vegetables, and essential oils. However, since it adds only minimal preservatives, the shelf life is short, so it is recommended to purchase small quantities and consume them within a short period.

Lush Korea has been running the ‘Rebirth of the Black Pot’ campaign, a container recycling system, for 10 years since 2013. This campaign encourages customers to clean and collect five black product containers called ‘Black Pots’ and bring them to stores in exchange for Lush’s best-selling products. The collected Black Pots go through a series of processes to be reborn as new containers and return to customers.

Paying attention to the damage caused by microplastics threatening marine ecosystems, Lush Korea stopped using glitter made from PET, a type of thermoplastic, in 2013. In 2015, it launched a campaign to raise awareness about microplastics and introduce eco-friendly raw materials, and currently uses ingredients like red bean powder and almond powder instead of microplastics in its products.

The bestseller is the so-called ‘Shrek Pack,’ officially named ‘Mask of Magnaminty.’ This is a mud-based, thick green scrub mask product. It can be used on the face except around the eyes, as well as on the body. Apply the product to the area you want to wash, wait about 10 minutes until it slightly dries, then gently rub the granules with lukewarm water to wash it off. Washing it off by rolling the granules while in a hardened state tends to clean more evenly.

Containing mint ingredients, it gives a cooling sensation from the moment it is applied. Therefore, using it in hot summer feels especially refreshing. After washing, it not only exfoliates but also seems to reduce heat and has a soothing effect, leaving the skin feeling moist.

Like other Lush products, it does not use preservatives, so the shelf life is short, about 2 to 3 months.
