70% Discount on Usage Fee
Miryang City in Gyeongnam announced on the 4th that starting from the 3rd, it will reduce the usage fee of the Miryang Public Postpartum Care Center by 70% for the second child.
This benefit of the Miryang Public Postpartum Care Center is due to the revision of the "Gyeongsangnam-do Public Postpartum Care Center Installation, Operation, and Postpartum Care Cost Support Ordinance."

The Miryang Public Postpartum Care Center is equipped with eight single rooms for mothers, a newborn room, a nursing room, a multipurpose room, and a counseling room. Eligible users are mothers or their spouses who are registered residents of Gyeongsangnam-do as of the application date.
The usage fee is 1.6 million KRW for two weeks, which is 66% of the average two-week postpartum care center cost of 2.43 million KRW according to the 2021 postpartum care survey by the Ministry of Health and Welfare. The reduced fee for eligible users is 480,000 KRW, which is about 20% of the general postpartum care center cost.
In addition to the second child or more, who are newly eligible under this policy, other eligible groups for fee reduction include mothers of multiple births, multicultural family mothers, recipients of basic livelihood security and near-poverty families, persons with disabilities or their spouses, families of national veterans, families of May 18 Democratic Movement veterans, North Korean defectors, mothers with rare and intractable diseases, and single-parent family mothers.
Cheon Jae-gyeong, director of the Miryang City Health Center, said, “We expect that more families will receive practical benefits and the burden of childcare costs will be reduced due to the relaxed criteria for multiple children, and we will also strive to improve the services of the public postpartum care center.”
