Next Runner Identified as Lee Soon-hee, Chief of Gangbuk District Office
Seongbuk-gu, Seoul (Mayor Lee Seung-ro·photo) announced on the 4th that it has joined the Ministry of Environment's 'Bye Bye Plastic' challenge to reduce plastic usage.
The 'Bye Bye Plastic' challenge is a nationwide campaign meaning 'saying goodbye to plastic.' Participants promise to reduce unnecessary plastic use, post their commitment on social media, and then nominate others to join the challenge.
Mayor Lee Seung-ro of Seongbuk-gu participated in the challenge after being nominated by Mayor Oh Seung-rok of Nowon-gu, and he nominated Mayor Lee Soon-hee of Gangbuk-gu as the next participant.
Mayor Lee Seung-ro said, "Reducing plastic use in daily life and increasing the use of reusable items is the fastest way to protect the environment," adding, "I hope this campaign raises awareness about recycling and encourages people to reduce plastic use in their daily lives, contributing to carbon neutrality and environmental protection."
