Korea Minting and Security Printing Corporation Currency Museum, 'Sakura·Flower·Moss' Ikebana and Terrarium Exhibition

The Korea Minting and Security Printing Corporation announced on the 4th that it will hold an exhibition titled "櫻 (Cherry Blossom), 花 (Flower), 苔 (Moss)" under the theme of the companionship of Ikebana and terrariums beneath the cherry blossoms at the special exhibition hall of the Currency Museum located in Yuseong-gu, Daejeon, until the 14th of this month.

The keyword of the exhibition is "companionship," conveying the meaning of harmoniously combining the natural beauty of Ikebana and the artificial beauty of terrariums to tell the story of a life journey walked together.

Ikebana is a traditional Japanese flower arrangement method that involves placing flowers, trees, grass, and fruits in their natural form, expressing human beauty and life through the harmonious shapes of the flowers and other elements.

A terrarium is a method of cultivating plants inside a sealed glass container or small glass bottle.

The exhibition features artist Joo Mi-sook, who studied authentic Ikebana in Japan, and members of the Daejeon branch of the Ikebana Ohara School (a Japanese flower arrangement school with over 120 years of tradition). Last year, artist Joo also presented her works to the public through museum exhibitions and concerts.

The special exhibition hall of the Currency Museum is available free of charge for various cultural experiences for the public and broad participation of local artists. The Korea Minting and Security Printing Corporation supports and promotes about 20 special exhibitions annually.

Sung Chang-hoon, president of the Korea Minting and Security Printing Corporation, said, "The exhibition was prepared as an opportunity to publicly showcase works that mystically express our lives through flowers and moss," adding, "We hope visitors to the exhibition will have a chance to reflect on the harmony between nature and life at the Currency Museum, which is considered a famous cherry blossom spot."
