Operation of 8 Geumgo Rest Areas in Gangdong Region, Focusing on Accessibility and Rest Functions

On the 4th, Gumi City in Gyeongbuk signed a business agreement at City Hall with Gumi Gangdong Saemaeul Geumgo to operate the ‘休Maru’ public rest area for mobile workers, aiming to enhance accessibility and convenience for mobile workers and provide a comfortable resting space.

The ‘休Maru’ public rest area will be operated at eight Gumi Gangdong Saemaeul Geumgo locations (1 main branch, 7 branches) to ensure accessibility for mobile workers in the Gangdong area. The public rest area shares the break spaces of Gumi Gangdong Saemaeul Geumgo, offering mobile workers amenities such as shelter from cold and heat, free Wi-Fi, bottled water, and restrooms.


Jang Jong-gil, Chairman of Gumi Gangdong Saemaeul Geumgo, said, “I hope mobile workers can take a moment to rest and protect their health at the ‘休Maru’ public rest area, and that the rest area becomes a space recognized and supported as an important part of society beyond just a resting place.”


Mayor Kim Jang-ho stated, “We have focused on the difficulties faced by mobile workers and have worked to resolve them. Through the operation of the ‘休Maru’ public rest area, we plan to continue cooperating to provide a better environment not only for mobile workers but also for various members of the local community.”


Gumi Gangdong Saemaeul Geumgo has a strong record of awards in the Saemaeul Geumgo Central Association’s Gyeongbuk management evaluation (9 grand prizes, 6 excellence awards, etc.) and actively contributes to the local community by donating over 70 million KRW annually in scholarships, participating in the Love Sharing Campaign (about 11 tons of rice), and contributing 5 million KRW in neighbor aid funds.
