April 26 to June 22, Gumi Saemaeul Central Market Night Market Preparation Progress
Retro Photo Taking, Mood Lamp Making, and Other Dreamy, Romantic, and Sweet Night Market Activities
Gumi City in Gyeongbuk will operate a night market twice a week (Friday and Saturday) from April 26 to June 22 at Gumi Saemaeul Central Market and the Dongmun Shopping District on Jungang-ro.
Visitors can enjoy a rich and diverse selection of foods carefully chosen from Gumi’s famous restaurants, including fried pufferfish, straw-grilled sausage, grilled chicken cartilage, and stir-fried bean sprouts with thinly sliced pork. A spectacular opening ceremony featuring popular singers such as Park Hyun-bin and Jung Da-kyung will also be held.
Additionally, various experiences for children such as retro photo shoots, face painting, and making LED mood lamps will be available, along with rainbow lighting and unique photo zones to capture memorable pictures.
The city is conducting strict cooking method training, hygiene, and service education with the help of professors from Gumi University to create a differentiated night market, while also focusing on attracting tourists from outside areas such as Gimcheon, Chilgok, and Daegu.
In May, the night market will be extensively promoted through TV advertisements across nearby regions of Gumi, Daegu, and the entire Gyeongbuk area. Considering the preferences of the younger generation, various SNS hashtag promotions will also be conducted simultaneously.
Mayor Kim Jang-ho stated, “We will successfully lead the night market to revitalize the traditional market and local economy by attracting a new younger generation, making it another attraction of Gumi.”
