National Mokpo University Holds Opening Ceremony for Mokpo Campus Eoullim Hall

Presenting a Vision Centered on 'Lifelong Education, Medical Welfare, and Cultural Arts' Along with the Region

National Mokpo University (President Song Ha-cheol) held an opening ceremony for the Eoullim Hall at the Mokpo Campus in Yonghae-dong at 3:30 PM on the 3rd, attended by President Song Ha-cheol, Mokpo Mayor Park Hong-ryul, Jeong Dae-seong, Director of Mokpo Office of Education, along with about 100 faculty members and local residents.


According to Mokpo University on the 4th, the Mokpo Campus Eoullim Hall is a three-story building with a total floor area of 2,409㎡, completed in 1972, and has passed about 50 years.


This time, National Mokpo University invested about 2.3 billion KRW of national facility funds to carry out an environment improvement project for Eoullim Hall from January to March, transforming it into a pleasant space for education, research, and industry-academia cooperation activities.

Currently, with the reopening of Eoullim Hall, the Future Life College, LiFE2.0 Project Group, International Tea Culture Industry Research Institute, and Mokpo City Children's Meal Management Support Center have moved in, carrying out various activities in lifelong education and other areas in cooperation with the local community.


At this opening ceremony, a future vision was declared to pursue "Mokpo Campus as a center for lifelong education, medical welfare, and cultural arts, growing together with the local community."


To this end, plans include △ attracting a national medical school and establishing a university hospital to become the medical center of the western Jeonnam region △ strengthening lifelong education programs such as operating an adult learner-friendly academic system through the establishment of the Future Life College and a Park Golf Academy △ creating a forest healing area for therapy and healing, open to local residents.


Additionally, a research institution focused on island and marine culture will be established centered on the Island Culture Research Institute, developing into a hub for island studies, and a forest healing area will be created to provide an environment for therapy and healing.


Through these efforts by National Mokpo University, the Mokpo Campus is expected to carry out more advanced and innovative education and research, contributing to regional development through close cooperation with the local community.


President Song Ha-cheol said, “With the rebirth of Eoullim Hall, Mokpo Campus is expected to enter a second renaissance with the vision of being a center for lifelong education, medical welfare, and cultural arts.”


He added, “Once the National Mokpo Medical School and university hospital are established, it will become the center of a silver medical and welfare belt through support for the silver industry linked to them. Now, Mokpo Campus will evolve into a complex space that shares life with local residents, not just a university facility, and become a growth engine for regional development.”
