Gyeonggi Province supports the installation of ‘household eco-friendly (low-NOx) boilers’ that emit less fine dust and have lower heating costs for vulnerable groups within the province.
On the 4th, Gyeonggi Province announced that it will provide installation costs totaling 1,035.8 million KRW for 1,726 household eco-friendly boilers, offering 600,000 KRW per household, targeting vulnerable groups such as multi-child families and social welfare facilities until the end of this year.
The eligible households include basic livelihood security recipients, lower-income groups, persons with disabilities, and single-parent families. Starting this year, multi-child families (with two or more children) with an income below 70% of the median income and social welfare facilities (such as child, elderly, and disability welfare facilities) are also included.
Applications can be submitted online (Eco Square https://ecosq.or.kr) or by visiting the environmental department of the relevant city or county office, and support is provided on a first-come, first-served basis.
Lee Yoon-sung, Director of the Air Environment Management Division of Gyeonggi Province, stated, "Replacing old boilers with eco-friendly boilers improves fine dust levels and reduces greenhouse gas emissions, and can save about 400,000 KRW annually in heating costs. This year, we will focus on installing household eco-friendly boilers for low-income and vulnerable groups to ease the burden on residents facing difficulties."
Gyeonggi Province began the household eco-friendly boiler installation support project in 2017 and has supported the installation of 368,257 units through 2023.
