"Mass Sending of False Texts Claiming Reporting at Actual Transaction Price After Reporting at Official Land Price"

The election campaign committee of Jang Dong-hyeok, the People Power Party candidate for Boryeong City and Seocheon County in Chungnam, announced on the 3rd that they have filed a complaint with the Boryeong City Election Commission against Na So-yeol of the Democratic Party of Korea for underreporting assets and spreading false information.

Jang's campaign issued a press release stating, "Na's spouse purchased a 1,683㎡ plot of land and a detached house located in Gisan-myeon, Seocheon County, in August last year. However, while the house value was reported based on the actual transaction price, the land value was reported using the official land price."

They added, "As a result, land worth approximately 106 million won was underreported by about half," and "Na's misreported properties total five, with some reported at as low as 30% of the actual transaction price."

They further stated, "The Election Commission regulations require public office candidates to report the higher value between the official land price and the actual transaction price when declaring real estate."

In particular, Jang's campaign claimed, "Na's election committee previously sent mass text messages to Seocheon residents stating that 'the land and buildings owned by the spouse are reported based on the actual transaction price, not the official land price.'"

They emphasized, "If Na's underreporting of assets is proven true, this mass text message campaign by the election committee could also be punished as spreading false information."

Jang Dong-hyeok's campaign stated, "Falsely reporting candidate information such as assets by public office candidates clouds voters' judgment and undermines democracy," urging, "Na should immediately clarify his underreporting of assets and offer a sincere apology to the residents of Boryeong and Seocheon."
