Prevention of Large-Scale Fires and Rapid Initial Response
The Changwon Fire Headquarters in Gyeongnam will conduct special alert duty for rapid initial response from the 3rd to the 6th during the Cheongmyeong and Hansik periods, and from the 9th until the end of vote counting during the National Assembly election period.
According to the Changwon Fire Headquarters, there were 1,695 fire incidents in Changwon City over the past three years, with 150 occurring in April during the Cheongmyeong and Hansik periods.
The monthly fire incidents were highest in January with 209 cases (12%), followed by February with 171 cases (10.1%), and March with 150 cases (8.8%).
Analyzing the causes of these incidents, negligence was the most common, followed by unknown causes and electrical factors.
Accordingly, the Fire Headquarters will mobilize a total of 1,118 firefighters and 1,814 volunteer firefighters to conduct alert duty to prevent even a single accident.
First, the Fire Headquarters will establish an on-site response system centered on the station chief to respond quickly to fires, and will strive to minimize damage through rapid personnel mobilization and proactive response in the early stages of fires.
In particular, considering the seasonal characteristics of spring, they plan to respond proactively by strengthening firefighting training and patrols in villages adjacent to forests to prepare for forest fires.
Additionally, in preparation for the 22nd National Assembly election, safety inspections have been completed for a total of 321 polling and vote counting stations in Changwon City (55 early voting stations, 261 polling stations, and 5 counting stations), and fire trucks will be deployed in advance on the counting day to prepare for any emergencies.
Kim Yong-jin, the Fire Headquarters Chief, stated, “All disasters must be prepared for in advance to minimize damage,” and added, “We will do our utmost to realize a safe city Changwon.”
