Ulleung-gun, Gyeongbuk Province, conducted the ‘2024 Transportation Workers Refresher Training’ for passenger and freight commercial vehicle drivers in the region at the Ulleung-gun Community Center from April 2 to 3.
This training, organized by the Gyeongbuk Transportation Culture Training Institute, consisted of professional instructors specializing in traffic duties and courteous service. The program covered understanding the Road Traffic Act and safe driving, attitudes of consideration for others, traffic accident cases and fire prevention, and establishing transportation order to foster a culture of safety. Trainee information can be checked on the Gyeongbuk Transportation Culture Training Institute website.
Passenger vehicle drivers with less than 5 years of accident-free and penalty-free records are required to attend training annually, while those with 5 to less than 10 years of such records attend biennially. This training encourages compliance and safe driving. For freight vehicle drivers, due to partial amendments to the Freight Vehicle Transportation Business Act, those with over 10 years of accident-free and violation-free records are exempt from refresher training.
Nam Han-kwon, the county governor, stated, “I hope this training serves as an opportunity to cultivate basic job competencies and to inspire a sense of mission and pride as professional drivers. Additionally, I wish for transportation workers to be nurtured through education that enhances understanding of traffic-related laws such as the Road Traffic Act, raises traffic safety awareness, and aligns with current trends in traffic safety education.”
