In a press release on the 3rd, Candidate Jo said, "I was unable to attend the broadcast debate at that time due to health reasons, but regardless of the reason, I sincerely apologize once again to the citizens," and added, "I hope the debate will be held again, giving me the opportunity to present my pledges, policies, and convictions to the voters."

He continued, "Considering fairness issues regarding debates among all candidates, including those excluded from the TV debate, I strongly support the debate proposed by the Song Young-gil candidate's side," and expressed, "If a platform is provided to make up for the missed opportunity of not attending the previous TV debate, I would be rather grateful."

He also said, "I hope there will be an opportunity for Song Young-gil, who served as a five-term lawmaker, mayor of Incheon, and party leader under the Democratic Party banner, to personally explain why he is running in Gwangju, a Democratic Party stronghold," and added, "For example, attending the debate via video call and delivering his remarks directly could be an option."
