[Hot Interview] Eom Kyung-young "People Power Party will achieve majority and become the largest party"

"Shy Conservatives Now Starting to Respond to Polls"
"Medical Reform Not Only a Setback for People Power Party"

As of April 3, most experts generally predict that the opposition party will have the upper hand in the general election based on various opinion poll results. In this regard, Um Kyung-young, director of the Era Spirit Research Institute, holds a different view. He has consistently argued that the People Power Party will secure the majority of seats. Curious about the reason behind this perspective, we conducted an interview. Director Um confidently stated, "The People Power Party will achieve a majority and become the first party." He explained by citing recent opinion polls released for Seoul Gwangjin-gap, Yeongdeungpo-gap, and Dongdaemun-eul.

Almost no one talks about the People Power Party's advantage.

The People Power Party's approval rating will recover. Although the recent polls released yesterday and today have limited samples, in some key battleground districts, the People Power Party candidates are catching up significantly or even overtaking. Starting this week, the People Power Party will gain momentum in major battlegrounds. The Hangang Belt, Nakdonggang Belt, and Chungcheong Belt are highly likely to swing in favor of the People Power Party. It is logically difficult to explain how the People Power Party candidates can win in Gwangjin or Yeongdeungpo but lose in the Nakdonggang Belt.

You mentioned the existence of shy conservatives.

When conducting opinion polls around last week, those individuals (shy conservatives) probably did not answer the phone. However, as the election approaches within a week or ten days, they seem to have expressed their intentions in the polls conducted yesterday and today. This is reflected in the recent opinion polls. Shy conservatives make up about 5% of the total electorate.

Last week's opinion polls showed the opposition party leading in many cases.

There was controversy over 'Hwang Sang-mu and Lee Jong-seop,' and fatigue due to the prolonged medical school strike. However, medical reform has not been entirely negative for the People Power Party. Although the approach appeared rough and one-sided, if it is not done like the Yoon Seok-yeol administration, medical reform will not be possible again.

Do you think there is a bubble in the opinion polls?

This opinion poll could be historically wrong. The conservatives are not that strong, but the Democratic Party's hardcore supporters are currently forming a tremendous fandom base. Among the 8 million people in their 40s who actively support the Democratic Party, if about half support the party, that is 4 million people. Adding the 2030 generation, those over 50, and the Honam region supporters, the number approaches 13 million. They seem to be actively answering opinion poll calls along with the wave of the Innovation Party for Justice. As the election nears, shy conservatives also appear to be participating in the polls. In fact, the results in Yeongdeungpo-gap flipped within a week. This is the evidence.
