Gyeonggi Province will select 300 farmers and fishermen who will lead a 30% increase in income by 2033.
On the 3rd, Gyeonggi Province announced that it will recruit 300 farmers and fishermen by the 30th of this month to participate in the '333 Project,' a program aimed at increasing agricultural and fishery income by 30% by 2033.
Gyeonggi Province will select farmers and fishermen through auditions (50 people) and rolling recruitment (250 people). The auditions will be selected through idea presentations next month, and the rolling recruitment will be selected through on-site evaluations of agriculture and fisheries by September.
Selected farmers and fishermen will receive personalized income increase strategies after diagnosis by consulting experts, and their capabilities will be strengthened through one-on-one coaching by experts in each field for three years.
Based on individual education performance and consulting experts' opinions, partial support will also be provided for the purchase of facilities and equipment to increase income.
Gong Jeong-sik, Director of the Gyeonggi Province Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Life Sciences, said, "In the case of Gyeonggi Province, the average agricultural income is less than 10 million won, indicating an unstable income structure," and added, "We will do our best to promote the project so that the '333 Project for Agricultural and Fishery Income' can provide better growth opportunities for farmers and fishermen."
There are about 277,000 farmers and 25,000 fishermen in the province. The average pure agricultural income was 9.4 million won as of 2022. Pure agricultural income refers to income earned solely from crop cultivation, excluding government subsidies, experience farms, and other additional income.
