On the 3rd, Samsung E&A announced that it signed a contract with Saudi Arabia's state-owned oil company Aramco for the 'Fadhili Gas Expansion Program Package 1 and 4' construction. The contract amount of about $6 billion is not only the highest in Samsung E&A's history but also the largest-scale project ever awarded to a domestic construction company in Saudi Arabia.
The project involves expanding the existing Fadhili gas plant located 350 km northeast of Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia. Samsung E&A will undertake 'Package 1,' which involves constructing gas processing facilities, and 'Package 4,' which includes utilities and auxiliary facilities. Upon completion, the daily gas processing capacity will increase from the current 2.5 billion cubic feet (2500 MMSCFD) to 3.8 billion cubic feet (3800 MMSCFD).
Samsung E&A is currently executing the Jafurah gas processing and Unayzah gas storage projects in Saudi Arabia, and with this new contract, it will continue to participate in major Saudi gas projects consecutively.
Saudi Arabia has recently been continuously investing in gas plant construction to increase gas production, and Samsung E&A plans to actively participate and pursue linked contracts.
Samsung E&A explained the background of the contract by stating, "The innovative achievements demonstrated in the Aramco project acted as a differentiated competitive advantage." It also reported that Aramco executives highly evaluated Samsung E&A's innovative technology and efforts during the signing ceremony.
