Various Uses of Original IP
The 3D animation "Yumi's Cells The Movie," based on Naver Webtoon's IP "Yumi's Cells," was released in theaters on the 3rd.
The webtoon Yumi's Cells is a popular webtoon that has achieved a global cumulative 3.5 billion views. It depicts the daily life and romantic stories of Yumi, a woman in her 30s working in an office, from the perspective of the cells in her head.
Yumi's Cells The Movie portrays Yumi's love and daily life as she quits her job to pursue her long-held dream of becoming a writer and prepares for a contest. It was co-produced by StudioN, Naver Webtoon's video production subsidiary, and Locus, a 3D animation studio.
Kwon Mi-kyung, CEO of StudioN, said, "We are very excited to release the first theatrical animation of Yumi's Cells," adding, "More animations based on Naver Webtoon IP will be released, and we will strive to present works that everyone can enjoy."
Various types of merchandise have been produced using the Yumi's Cells IP, and collaborations have been made with several brands in food and beverages. Based on a solid story, exhibitions, dramas, and animations have been created, and a musical is currently in development.
