Boryeong City Strongly Collects 3 Billion KRW in Overdue Non-Tax Revenue for the First Half of the Year

Boryeong City in Chungnam announced on the 3rd that it will begin collecting overdue non-tax revenues for the first half of the year until June.

The city plans to collect more than 2.1 billion KRW (70% of the target) out of the annual collection target of 3 billion KRW for carried-over overdue payments.

The city will carry out collection activities such as seizing assets through property investigations of chronic defaulters, △ public auction of real estate and vehicles △ confiscation of vehicle license plates △ registration of public information △ restriction of licensed businesses △ on-site visits to high-amount defaulters.

In addition, the city plans to encourage voluntary payment by sending overdue notices and text messages to non-tax revenue defaulters.

For livelihood-type defaulters such as small business owners and micro-enterprises facing economic difficulties, the city plans to support installment payments, collection deferrals, and suspension of vehicle license plate confiscation.

Last year, the city collected 5.2 billion KRW, which is 144% of the collection target of 3.6 billion KRW based on the general account for carried-over non-tax revenue arrears.

A city official said, “To ensure fairness with sincere taxpayers and foster a sound tax payment culture, we will strongly collect from high-amount and habitual defaulters, and prepare various tax support measures that can help livelihood-type defaulters resume economic activities.”
