Expansion to 74 Countries Globally Through Coco와+
Wave Plans to Add European Service Regions
Online video service (OTT) company Wavve is becoming the first native OTT to enter the European and Oceania markets.
On the 3rd, Wavve announced that it has expanded its global service coverage to a total of 74 countries by starting services in 39 countries including the United Kingdom, Ireland, Spain, Portugal, Australia, and New Zealand through its subsidiary Wavve America, which is responsible for services in the Americas.
Wavve America plans to expand its global business this year based on the service experience accumulated through the K-entertainment platform KOCOWA+ and analysis of overseas user data.
KOCOWA+ has started services in 39 countries in Europe and Oceania based on the currently available languages of English, Spanish, and Portuguese. The existing service countries were 35 countries in the Americas, including the United States, Canada, and Brazil.
Following this new global service, Wavve plans to gradually expand its European service areas.
KOCOWA+ is available through iOS and Android applications starting at $6.99 per month ($69.99 annually), with premium plans available at $7.99 per month ($79.99 annually).
KOCOWA+ offers local users content such as dramas, variety shows, movies, documentaries, K-POP concerts, and music chart shows, as well as Wavve original content including "Weak Hero Class 1" and "Park Ha-kyung Travelogue."
In the Americas, K-content is supplied through partnerships with major OTTs, home appliances, and cable TV providers such as Smart TV, Google TV, Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, Rakuten Viki, Roku, Comcast Xfinity, Jumo, and Cox.
Lee Tae-hyun, CEO of Wavve, stated, "We will collaborate with various domestic and international partners to build a global K-content platform, which is the goal and mission of Wavve’s launch."
