Busan Mayor Park Hyung-jun, Fostering Digital Industry ... 'Emergency Economic AS On-site Visit'

3rd Day at 3 PM, Visit to Digital Industry Companies 'Ilju GNS' and 'Formit'

Mayor Park: "We Will Spare No Institutional or Policy Support Needed by Companies"

Park Hyung-jun, Mayor of Busan, will visit the ICT convergence service specialist company ‘Ilju GNS’ (located in Dongnae-gu) and the industrial metaverse technology leading company ‘FOMIT’ (located in Suyeong-gu) sequentially at 3 p.m. on the 3rd as part of the Emergency Economic AS on-site visit.

The ‘Emergency Economic AS on-site visit’ is a follow-up measure to the Emergency Economic Countermeasures Meeting held by the city. It is conducted to check whether the policies prepared through the Emergency Economic Countermeasures Meeting are being properly applied on-site and to explore additional support measures.

This visit was arranged to discuss digital industry promotion plans that will accelerate the digital transformation of local industries by linking the digital industry promotion policies prepared through the 17th Emergency Economic Countermeasures Meeting with on-site communication, and to seek corporate support measures with local stakeholders.

In particular, the visit will be attended by key related organizations responsible for digital industry promotion, including Mayor Park, the Director of the Digital Economy Innovation Office, the Head of the Artificial Intelligence Software Division, and the Director of the Busan Information Industry Promotion Agency.

First, Mayor Park will visit Ilju GNS to communicate with the CEO and other company officials, tour the company site, and then listen to demonstrations and explanations of technologies developed by Ilju GNS such as the ‘Serious Accident Punishment Act Safety Management Solution Project’ and augmented reality (AR), and discuss ways to revitalize the local digital industry together.

Ilju GNS is a specialized company in developing ICT convergence services and digital transformation consulting that meet the needs of markets and customers. In particular, it provides competitive solutions based on intelligent information technology in the fields of energy, manufacturing industry, and smart cities.

Since relocating its headquarters to Busan in 2011, Ilju GNS has steadily grown by promoting over 200 projects annually, including building smart factories, energy management systems, solar power plant fractional investment platforms, metaverse solutions, and industrial safety management solutions for small and medium-sized enterprises responding to the Serious Accident Punishment Act.

Especially, the ‘Serious Accident Punishment Act Safety Management Solution’ developed by Ilju GNS is an industrial site safety and health management program designed to prevent accidents under the Serious Accident Punishment Act for small workplaces with fewer than 50 employees. It is expected to be a groundbreaking turning point in safety and health management for small and medium-sized enterprises and small business owners who find it relatively difficult to respond to the Serious Accident Punishment Act.

Mayor Park will then visit FOMIT to hear explanations about FOMIT’s core businesses such as the metaverse and cases of digital transformation application, and explore corporate support measures for fostering the local digital industry with company officials.

In particular, Mayor Park plans to experience the digital twin technology developed by FOMIT firsthand to directly appreciate the excellent technological capabilities of Busan companies.

FOMIT is a plant ICT solution development specialist company and a representative metaverse solution developer in Busan. It develops digital twin and industrial metaverse technologies, which are key technologies of the 4th Industrial Revolution, and provides related consulting services.

Since its establishment in 2004, FOMIT has built plant 3D modeling and power plant lifecycle management systems. In 2015, it provided 3D-based virtual reality (VR) services for power plants; in 2021, it conducted digital twin construction consulting for major power companies and industrial complexes; in 2022, it developed 3D-based industrial metaverse and multi-access solutions; and since 2023, it has been building the Myeongji Noksan distributed power generation digital twin platform.

Mayor Park Hyung-jun stated, “To innovate the regional industrial structure by applying digital technology across industries, it is most important to foster a digital industry ecosystem equipped with digital transformation (DX) elemental technologies such as artificial intelligence, metaverse, and digital twin.” He added, “Our city will actively reflect the voices from today’s digital industry sites in policies and will spare no institutional or policy support for the urgent technological fields these companies need.”

He emphasized, “Ilju GNS’s Serious Accident Punishment Act Safety Management Solution can significantly reduce the safety and health management burden of workplaces not only in our city but also in small and medium-sized enterprises nationwide. Therefore, we will actively work to spread and promote this solution for the safety of citizens and the public, and recommend its use to government ministries and agencies.” He also said, “Furthermore, our city will continue to strengthen the digital industry competitiveness of local companies so that Busan can lead the digital great transformation.”
