The European Union (EU) condemned North Korea's launch of a medium-range ballistic missile on the 2nd (local time).
The EU External Action Service (EEAS) urged in a spokesperson's statement that afternoon, "Cease all illegal acts that threaten regional and international peace and security."

The EEAS pointed out that North Korea's ballistic missile launch is another violation of United Nations (UN) Security Council resolutions, stating, "Comply with the UN Security Council resolution obligations to accept dialogue proposals from relevant parties and to dismantle nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles in a complete, verifiable, and irreversible manner."
According to the Joint Chiefs of Staff, North Korea launched one medium-range ballistic missile toward the East Sea from the Pyongyang area at around 6:53 a.m. that day. Military authorities estimated that North Korea tested a hypersonic missile.
