National Management Evaluation Awarded 'Excellence'... Honored as a Two-Time Winner
Leading Regional Sharing through Various Social Contribution Projects
Jungheung Credit Union (Chairman Lee Ok-gyu) achieved a remarkable feat by winning the grand prize in the comprehensive management evaluation of credit unions in the Gwangju and Jeonnam regions, demonstrating stable management and excellent performance.
The Gwangju-Jeonnam Regional Headquarters of the National Credit Union Federation of Korea held the ‘2023 Business Evaluation and 2024 Business Briefing Session’ on the 29th of last month at Withus Wedding Hall in Gwangcheon-dong, Seo-gu, Gwangju.
Jungheung Credit Union received the Comprehensive Management Award for achieving the highest performance among 87 regional credit unions in Gwangju and Jeonnam at the '2023 Business Evaluation and 2024 Business Briefing Session'.
This event was organized to review the annual achievements of credit unions in the Gwangju and Jeonnam regions in 2023, to award prizes based on the comprehensive management evaluation results, and to resolve a vigorous leap forward in 2024.
Jungheung Credit Union achieved the highest performance among credit unions in the Gwangju and Jeonnam regions and received the grand prize for comprehensive management. Its excellent results in stable growth and sound management also shone in evaluations conducted nationwide among credit unions.
Earlier, Jungheung Credit Union received the second-tier excellence award in the comprehensive management evaluation at the 51st National Credit Union Federation of Korea General Assembly held on February 28 at the Daejeon Credit Union Central Training Center.
Based on outstanding work capabilities and driving force, Jungheung Credit Union received high evaluations across various indicators, earning the honor of a dual crown with the excellence award in the nationwide credit union evaluation and the grand prize in the regional credit union evaluation this year.
Located in Jungheung-dong, Buk-gu, Gwangju, Jungheung Credit Union was founded on May 1, 1979. As of the end of last December, it has assets of 250 billion KRW, 17,428 customers, a delinquency rate of 0.54%, net income of 1.26 billion KRW, a capital dividend of 4.5%, and has realized utilization dividends for 10 consecutive years.
Meanwhile, Jungheung Credit Union carries out various social contribution projects for local children and residents. Since 2016, they have been conducting the ‘Eobuba Mentoring Project’ with local children’s centers.
The Credit Union Eobuba Mentoring Program is a project organized and hosted by the Credit Union Social Contribution Foundation, the Ministry of Health and Welfare, and the Korea National Council on Social Welfare. Its purpose is to realize warm finance by imparting cooperative spirit and economic knowledge to children and adolescents through collaboration between credit unions and local communities.
As part of its scholarship program, since 2015, it has provided school bags worth about 58 million KRW to 493 elementary school entrants, supporting children to pursue their dreams through healthy school life.
They also spread positive influence in the local community by conducting ‘Longevity Photo Sessions’ (for those aged 70 and above) and ‘Medical Expense Support’ (for those aged 65 and above), wishing for the elderly’s healthy longevity and happy retirement.
In addition, since 2014, they have annually donated love rice (a total of 2,700 bags worth about 60 million KRW) to nearby administrative welfare centers (Jungheung 2-dong, Jungheung 3-dong, Yangsan-dong, Geon-guk-dong) and churches and cathedrals. They also hold love kimchi sharing events, leading efforts to create a world of togetherness by sharing warmth with vulnerable groups and those in need.
Lee Ok-gyu, Chairman of Jungheung Credit Union, said, "I am deeply moved to receive such an undeserved award. I thank the employees and executives who worked hard in their positions. I dedicate this honor to our members who have cooperated greatly." He added, "I accept this award as encouragement to do even better and will strive harder with principled management."
He continued, "We will carry out more diverse and practical social contribution activities to ensure that the positive influence of good sharing is well delivered to the local community," and added, "Jungheung Credit Union will continue to take the lead in sharing and coexistence."
