Comprehensive content company RBW, which includes groups Mamamoo and ONEUS, announced on the 2nd that it has signed a content distribution contract worth a total of 100 billion KRW over five years with Kakao Entertainment (including its subsidiary WM).
On the same day, RBW signed a music and content distribution contract worth 80 billion KRW, and its subsidiary WM Entertainment signed a contract worth 20 billion KRW with Kakao Entertainment. The total contract amount exceeds RBW's consolidated sales of 91.4 billion KRW last year.
RBW plans to use most of the contract funds as future growth capital. In particular, it plans to invest large-scale funds in enhancing artist and content production capabilities and marketing to expand the overseas advancement of its artists.
Kakao Entertainment will supply the music and content discovered and produced by RBW to the world through multiple distribution platforms.
Kim Jin-woo, CEO of RBW, said, "With this contract with Kakao Entertainment, which has excellent music and content distribution capabilities, we expect RBW's influence in the domestic and international content markets to be strengthened," adding, "We will continue to make large-scale investments in discovering new artists and strengthening the content production capabilities of artists already launched."
Since its establishment in 2010, RBW has discovered and debuted artists such as Mamamoo and ONEUS. Leveraging the growth of its artists, it was listed on KOSDAQ in November 2021, and in 2021 and 2022, it expanded its scale by acquiring WM Entertainment and DSP Media, respectively.
Additionally, RBW incorporated Urban Works, which produced last year's variety show "Running Man" and the Netflix series "The Silent Sea," as a subsidiary, aiming to advance as a comprehensive content company beyond music into variety shows and dramas.
