'Goodbye Only One Day' Pubao Completes Adaptation Training in Airplane Cage

Panda Fubao, born at Everland in Yongin, spent time adapting to the airplane cage before heading to China.

Everland recently released a video on its YouTube channel showing Fubao undergoing training to adapt to the airline cage. Fubao will board the cage that his mother Aibao, who came from China to Korea in 2016, used and head to China.

Since the 4th of last month, one month before the return to China, Fubao has been receiving special health care inside Panda World and training to adapt to the cage that will be used on the chartered flight.

In the video released that day, Fubao was hesitant to cross the entrance after seeing the cage for the first time. Keeper Kang Cheol-won reassured Fubao by speaking to him as he cautiously sniffed around. Slowly entering and inspecting the interior, Fubao appeared tense but soon relaxed, eating a carrot and resting.

The cage has holes drilled throughout to allow comfortable breathing. Keeper Kang sat against the cage wall, repeatedly stroking the surface as if petting Fubao. He said, "Fubao is adapting well," and added, "He will be able to handle the airport transfer and flight smoothly."

Fubao was born on July 20, 2020, to mother Aibao and father Lebao. According to the "Giant Panda Conservation Research Agreement," pandas born outside China must be moved to China before the age of four. Therefore, Fubao will be sent to the Wolong Xian Suping Base of the Giant Panda Conservation Research Center in Sichuan Province, China. On the morning of the 3rd at 10:40 AM, he will depart from Everland and transfer at Incheon International Airport to board a chartered flight provided by China. Keeper Kang will accompany him to China.
