Seodaemun-gu (District Mayor Lee Seongheon) announced on the 2nd that it will renovate old and deteriorated defective sewer pipes to proactively prevent road collapses and flood damage.
The target areas include six locations (▲Yeonhui-ro 24-gil 23 ▲Yeonhui-ro 10-gil 24-12 ▲Hong Eun Jungang-ro 135-17 ▲Jeungga-ro 4-gil 63-17 ▲Jeungga-ro 31-gil 26-16 ▲Changcheon-dong 45-1 area), with a total length of 313 meters and an inner diameter of 300 to 600 mm.
These areas required sewer pipe maintenance due to safety concerns from ground erosion during heavy rainfalls.
The district secured approximately 400 million KRW in city funds this year through consultations with Seoul City since last year, and will carry out construction for about three months starting this month. Upon completion, concerns about flooding and road collapses are expected to be resolved.
District Mayor Lee Seongheon stated, “We will continue to strive to renovate old and defective sewer pipes for a 100% happy Seodaemun where all residents can live comfortably and safely.”
