On the 1st, the Taebaek Fire Department in Gangwon Province reported that around 4:50 p.m. on the 27th of last month, an accident occurred between a motorcycle and a passenger car at the railroad crossing in Hwangji-dong, Taebaek City. The driver of the passenger car quickly got out of the vehicle and approached the motorcycle rider, Mr. A (78), but was too flustered to know what to do. At that moment, Firefighter Eun Seong-hyun (29) of the Hwangji 119 Safety Center, Taebaek Fire Department, who was on his way to pick up his three-year-old daughter from daycare, witnessed the accident scene and rushed toward Mr. A. At the time, Mr. A was in a dazed state, barely able to open his eyes, with a large bump visible on his head.

Firefighter Eun immediately called 119, provided first aid, and managed traffic to ensure safety at the scene, preventing secondary accidents. He also assessed the circumstances of the accident and the extent of injuries. When the fire truck arrived, he blocked other vehicles to allow the fire truck to enter the accident site. Mr. A was urgently transported to Taebaek Hospital but showed symptoms of cerebral hemorrhage and was airlifted to Andong Hospital.

Firefighter Eun holds a Level 2 Emergency Medical Technician certification and has experience as a paramedic, which enabled him to respond calmly in the emergency situation based on his past experience. Firefighter Eun said, "Although it was my day off, I believe I did what was naturally expected of me as a firefighter," adding, "I am happy to have been able to show a cool image as a father in front of my daughter."
