Taste of BUSAN is taking a step forward as a global brand.

On the 2nd at 3 p.m., Busan City will hold the ‘B-Food (Busan Food) Recipe Season 2 Development Kick-off Meeting’ in the small conference room on the 3rd floor of City Hall.

The ‘B-Food Recipe Development Project’ was first launched last year after expert consultations and discussions to develop various new menus that highlight the unique characteristics of Busan food, as there was a lack of Busan-specific dishes for international event banquets and the menus were mainly composed of Korean cuisine.

In Season 1 last year, 23 types of B-Food recipes were developed, including ‘Busan Sotbap topped with mackerel’ and ‘Daejeo Jjapjari tomato millet rice cake.’

In particular, this project aims to achieve two goals simultaneously: branding Busan food and advancing Busan as a global gourmet city by developing and distributing special recipes that incorporate Busan’s local dishes, ingredients, and unique stories.

Through the B-Food Recipe Season 2 development project, the city plans to create more than 20 new Busan food recipes across four categories: appetizers, main dishes, side dishes, and desserts.

A notable feature of Season 2, unlike Season 1 last year, is the change in the overall recipe arrangement from a time-progressive (course) format to a spatially arranged (bansang) format.

Before the full-scale development, the city formed a recipe development team of five members in March, including gourmet columnist Park Sang-hyun and chefs from various fields, to conduct on-site investigations of local ingredients and case studies.

Today’s kick-off meeting will introduce the future development direction, dishes to be developed, and the stories behind the food based on the findings from the recipe development team’s prior research and investigations, and gather feedback from experts.

Attendees, including city officials, hotel chefs, influencers, and the development team, will actively exchange opinions and discuss directions for developing highly refined recipes.

The development of B-Food (B-FOOD, Busan Food) Recipe Season 2 is expected to be completed by the end of July after tasting and evaluation processes involving chefs and various experts.

The completed recipes will be revealed to citizens through external tasting events, and will be promoted and distributed via social media (SNS) and cooking classes so that they can be used at event venues and dining establishments.

The city expects the newly developed ‘B-Food Recipe Season 2’ to be used as official Busan menus at international events held in Busan, alongside the recipes developed last year.

It is also anticipated to attract visitors to Busan with foods symbolizing the city and contribute to establishing Busan as a global gourmet city.

Lee So-ra, Director of the Citizen Health Bureau, said, “We will develop ‘Busan-style’ foods that reflect Busan’s local dishes, ingredients, and history to showcase the new charm of Busan food to the world,” adding, “Our city will continue to develop various gourmet events and content to help Busan leap forward as a global gourmet city.”
