Gyeonggi Province will invest 4.8 billion KRW this year to improve facilities at bus stops by installing heating and cooling systems and bus information terminals.
The project is divided into two parts: a facility improvement project with a budget of 1.8 billion KRW to upgrade 32 metropolitan bus transfer stops in 6 cities and counties, and a project with a budget of 3 billion KRW to install shelters and improve convenience facilities at 170 bus stops in 20 cities and counties, including Suwon.
The metropolitan bus transfer stop project targets locations selected through demand surveys in cities and counties, including Yongin Korean Folk Village, Hwaseong Bongdam-eup Welfare Center, Yangju City Hall, and Guri Gyomunsa Intersection. Depending on site conditions, various convenience facilities such as mobile phone chargers, heating and cooling systems, cold wave prevention facilities, heated seats, air curtains, and CCTV will be installed.
Through the bus stop facility improvement project, Gyeonggi Province will install 170 shelter-type bus stops with roofs and 267 convenience facilities, including bus information terminals, across 20 cities and counties.
Kim Sang-su, Director of the Gyeonggi Province Transportation Bureau, stated, "We will improve the bus stops into spaces where passengers can rest comfortably while waiting for the bus," and added, "We will continue to strive to install various convenience facilities at bus stops in the future."
