Basic Volunteer Training at Your Preferred Time and Place... Enhancing Volunteer Skills and Encouraging Participation
The Jungnang-gu Volunteer Center (Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) operates the ‘Visiting Volunteer School’ to inform residents who are new to volunteering about the meaning of volunteer work and how to get involved.
The ‘Visiting Volunteer School’ is a program where professional instructors visit local businesses, schools, social welfare facilities, and organizations to provide related education. It offers convenience and demand-driven education by tailoring the content according to the requests of the recipients at their preferred time and place.
The training covers essential topics that must be known before engaging in full-fledged volunteer activities, such as how to use the 1365 Volunteer Portal site, the value and importance of volunteering, and the attitudes and roles of volunteers.
Since its establishment in 2008, the ‘Visiting Volunteer School’ has received great response with a total of 97,324 participants to date. This year, starting with Sangbong Middle School, the program visits institutions, community centers, and other places in need of education to help strengthen the capabilities required as volunteers.
In addition, the Jungnang-gu Volunteer Center has enhanced volunteer education within the center. To support systematic and voluntary volunteer activities, it regularly conducts basic volunteer training for adults every month.
Moreover, to promote youth volunteering, it operates programs such as youth service learning and youth volunteer schools.
Furthermore, efforts are being made to provide education in specialized volunteer fields to meet the demand for professional areas such as balloon art and face painting.
Ryu Kyung-gi, Mayor of Jungnang-gu, said, “For residents who are interested in volunteering but do not know where or how to start, the Visiting Volunteer School will be a great help.” He added, “We ask for the residents’ continued interest and participation in volunteer activities so that Jungnang-gu can become a warm community where neighbors help neighbors.”
