Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-yeon visited Pyeongtaek Jije Station on the 1st and announced that he would provide maximum support for the extension of the Seoul Metropolitan Area Express Train (GTX) A and C lines to Pyeongtaek Jije Station.
On the day, Governor Kim said, "The plan to extend GTX A and C lines to Pyeongtaek Jije Station is underway, and I am very pleased. We will do our best to expedite the project so that a major infrastructure for solving transportation issues and development in southern Gyeonggi can be established." He added, "Pyeongtaek is a very important city in Gyeonggi Province with great development potential. From now on, let’s make good plans so that the GTX A and C extensions can be realized early, and Gyeonggi Province and Pyeongtaek City will cooperate closely."
Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-yeon is visiting Pyeongtaek Jije Station on the 1st to discuss the extension of GTX A and C lines with officials.
The GTX A line runs 85.5 km from Unjeong to Samsung, Suseo, and Dongtan, with the Suseo-Dongtan section having been partially opened on the 30th of last month. The goal is to open the entire line by 2028.
The GTX C line connects 86.46 km from Deokjeong through Samsung to Suwon. Construction began in January and it is scheduled to open in 2028.
If the GTX A and C lines are extended to Pyeongtaek Jije Station, the Samsung-Jije section, which currently takes about 95 minutes by subway, will be reduced to 33 minutes by GTX A line and 44 minutes by GTX C line, significantly contributing to improving the quality of life for residents.
Meanwhile, in February, Gyeonggi Province signed a win-win cooperation agreement with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, Hwaseong City, Pyeongtaek City, Osan City, and Dongducheon City to extend the GTX A line (Unjeong-Dongtan) to Pyeongtaek and the GTX C line (Deokjeong-Suwon) to Dongducheon and Pyeongtaek.
