60s Suspect Transferred for Killing Woman During Debt Dispute

Crime Committed in a Villa Located in Daerim-dong, Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul

A man in his 60s who killed an acquaintance over a debt dispute was handed over to the prosecution.


On the 1st, the Yeongdeungpo Police Station in Seoul announced that they had arrested and sent Mr. A, in his 60s, on charges of murder.

According to the police, Mr. A is accused of killing a woman in her 60s during an argument over a debt at a villa located in Daerim-dong, Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul, on January 11.


The police received a report from the victim’s daughter, who found her deceased on the 30th of the same month. Initially treated as an unattended death case, the investigation focused on people around the victim and her whereabouts. After receiving the final autopsy results, which could not completely rule out 'neck compression asphyxiation,' the case was reclassified as a murder investigation.


Subsequently, while investigating people of interest nearby, Mr. A was identified as the prime suspect and was apprehended on the street in Seosan-si, Chungnam Province, on the 21st of last month.


During police questioning, Mr. A reportedly admitted to the crime, stating, "I committed the crime during an argument while demanding the money I had lent." The court issued an arrest warrant for Mr. A on the 23rd of last month.
