Discounts on Sustainable Material Products and Plant-Based Food Menus
IKEA Korea will hold a ‘Month of the Earth’ event throughout April, from April 1 to 30, to celebrate ‘Earth Day’ on April 22, promoting sustainable living at home.
IKEA prepared this event so that many people can participate in creating a better future for the Earth. Targeting members of IKEA’s free membership program ‘IKEA Family,’ the event offers discounts and additional benefits for sustainable living, while also providing inspiring events for everyday life that is friendly to both people and the planet.
During the event period, IKEA Family members can purchase IKEA’s people- and planet-friendly home furnishing solutions at discounted prices. Key event products include the Sinnlig lighting, Voea desk lamp, Boksloev table and chairs, among others. There are also products made from bamboo, which grows quickly and requires little fertilizer or pesticides, and Soare table mats made from water hyacinth harvested from tropical waterways to avoid blocking water flow.
At all store restaurants, plant-based meat dishes that offer the taste and texture of meat but are healthy and sustainable, such as Plant Ragu Pasta and Plant Charcoal Grilled Ribs, will be sold at special IKEA Family prices. In the caf?, as part of waste reduction efforts, all customers who bring their own reusable tumblers will receive a 500 KRW discount on coffee menu items.
Benefits to promote resource circulation through product lifespan extension are also provided. IKEA Family members who use the ‘Buyback Service,’ which purchases used IKEA furniture, will receive a refund of up to 65% of the original purchase price depending on the product’s condition. Products purchased through the Buyback Service will be resold at discounted prices through the in-store ‘Resource Circulation Hub,’ which offers secondhand, packaging-damaged, or display products.
Various inspiring store-specific events for sustainable living will also be held, including the ‘Flea Market,’ where customers can participate as sellers to sell secondhand products; the ‘Sustainability Tour,’ which explores hidden sustainable solutions such as solar panels in IKEA stores; and ‘Recycled Keychain Making’ using discarded bottle caps.
An IKEA Korea representative said, “We hope that this event will encourage more people to take an interest in and join efforts to create a healthy Earth.” They added, “IKEA will continue to strive to create change for current and future generations through various activities that positively impact both people and the planet, including supporting healthy and sustainable living, resource circulation, and climate change response.”
