Dobong-gu Operates Youth Future Talent Camp Featuring Rock Climbing and Rope Activities Rope Climbing Experience

Dobong-gu (Mayor Oh Eon-seok) has prepared a special camp for busy youth with their studies.

The district announced that from May 17 to 19, it will operate the "Dobong-gu Youth Future Talent Camp" (hereafter referred to as the camp) for local youth at the National Pyeongchang Youth Center located in Pyeongchang-gun, Gangwon-do, for 2 nights and 3 days.

The camp consists of challenge activities such as community activities, artificial rock climbing, and rope climbing. A district official stated, "Through various activities conducted in the outstanding natural environment during this camp, youth will be able to develop cooperation and a sense of community."

The participants are 50 fifth and sixth graders residing in Dobong-gu, including 45 general students and 5 socially disadvantaged students.

Applications for the camp can be submitted through the Dobong-gu website from April 1 to 15. If the number of applicants exceeds the recruitment quota, participants will be selected by a computerized lottery. The final selection results will be announced on April 22 on the Dobong-gu website.

The participation fee for general students is 68,000 KRW per person. Of the total participation fee of 342,000 KRW, 274,000 KRW is supported by the district. Students from socially disadvantaged families, such as basic livelihood security recipients, legally low-income households, and single-parent family support recipients, will have their entire participation fee covered by the district.

Detailed recruitment information and the camp schedule can be found on the Dobong-gu website (Notices).

Oh Eon-seok, Mayor of Dobong-gu, said, "Youth is a time to discover oneself and grow through various experiences. I hope this camp will be a meaningful time for the youth," and added, "We will continue to do our best to prepare programs that foster leadership and creativity among local youth."

The district is strengthening cooperation with related organizations to expand youth policies. In July last year, it signed a business agreement with the Korea Youth Activity Promotion Agency under the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family to support healthy growth of youth, and established a close cooperative system with the National Youth Training Facilities under the agency to promote this camp. The district also plans to continue cooperation with overseas cities and is planning an international youth exchange with Changping District, Beijing, China, a sister city, during the summer vacation in July and August.
