18 Students from 'Correct Posture and Model Walking' Class Participate as Fashion Show Models
Awakening Passion for Life and Supporting Challenges in New Fields for Middle-aged and Seniors
Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yoo Seong-hoon) announced that on the 30th of last month, a fashion show was held at the Geumcheon Musical Center featuring participants of the Geumcheon 50 Plus Center (Director Kim Mi-seong) ‘Correct Posture and Model Walking’ course.
The event was organized to enhance the vitality and passion of middle-aged and older adults, helping them plan their second life and take on new challenges.
The ‘Correct Posture and Model Walking’ program is a course designed to correct the posture of middle-aged and older adults and support them in pursuing their dreams as models. Model walking promotes blood circulation, strengthens lower body muscles, greatly benefits health, and boosts confidence and self-esteem.
The students, aged between 49 and 66, received training throughout March from professional instructors on basic walking and posture correction, basic poses and turns, and basic movement paths.
At the end of the course, about 20 students gathered in one place to showcase their skills and present a fashion show stage that would mark a beautiful page in their lives.
The fashion show was held in two parts. The first part, themed ‘Passion,’ featured casual attire expressing a life lived with dedication. The second part, themed ‘Dignity and Nobility,’ featured formal wear expressing the desire to live a wonderful second life.
About 80 models of various ages from model walking clubs in Gangseo-gu and Jongno-gu also participated, adding richness to the fashion show.
Student Han Gyu-sook (61) said, “It was a happy time where I could focus solely on myself. I feel excited and grateful as if I have taken a step closer to my dream of becoming a model,” expressing passion and anticipation for pursuing their dreams.
Student Choi Jae-sung (59) said, “I had been running busily forgetting myself, but this was an exciting experience of courageously taking on a new challenge again.”
The Geumcheon 50 Plus Center, opened in September 2020, provides comprehensive welfare services to middle-aged and older residents, including support for stable retirement life, planning for a second life, and forming social networks.
Mayor Yoo Seong-hoon said, “I congratulate the Geumcheon 50 Plus Center on hosting its first fashion show supporting the preparation for the second life of middle-aged adults, and I cheer on everyone’s passionate challenge toward their dreams,” adding, “I hope today becomes an opportunity to discover your hidden charms and enjoy a wonderful second half of life.”
