March 25-29 Designated as Clean Week, March 27 'Alley Cleaning with the District Mayor'... Dust suction and street cleaning vehicles used for focused cleaning of main roads... Environmental maintenance of alleyways and side streets vulnerable to illegal dumping
Jungnang-gu (District Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) has launched a large-scale cleaning campaign to wash away the accumulated grime from the winter season in celebration of the new spring.
From March 25 to 29, the district designated the week as "Clean Week" and collaborated with related organizations, market merchant associations, and the entire local community to clean every corner of the district, including 16 neighborhoods, traditional markets, public offices, main roads, and alleyways.
First, during Clean Week, the district conducted thorough cleaning of public facilities frequently used by residents, such as the district office building, sports facilities, and public parking lots, while carefully inspecting management areas by neighborhood. Each neighborhood focused on tidying up vulnerable cleaning spots and removing illegally dumped trash, actively encouraging residents' voluntary participation in cleaning through promotional sashes and other means.
Main roads and storm drains were also meticulously maintained. Four water-spraying trucks and three dust-cleaning vehicles were deployed to perform dust suction cleaning and water washing on major arterial roads within the area, including Dongil-ro and Mangu-ro. Using one street surface cleaning vehicle for storm drains and two suction dredging vehicles, the district thoroughly cleaned various deposits such as cigarette butts and trash inside storm drains along major roads.
In particular, on February 27, a "Neighborhood Cleaning with the District Mayor" event was held. Marking its 145th session, this neighborhood cleaning targeted the Myeonmok 7-dong area. Using suction dredging vehicles and storm drain cleaning machines, the event involved cleaning storm drains on side streets and alleys and intensively inspecting areas vulnerable to illegal dumping, resulting in extensive environmental maintenance.
The 16 neighborhoods operated a "Spring Cleaning Day," cleaning vulnerable areas by neighborhood and planting spring flowers along the streets to refresh the district.
Ryu Kyung-gi, Mayor of Jungnang-gu, said, "I sincerely thank all the residents and staff who participated in the spring cleaning despite their busy schedules. Seeing the streets cleaned and refreshed after removing the winter grime truly feels like spring has arrived. We will continue to do our best to make Jungnang clean and pleasant."
