Will Listen to Even the Smallest Voices of the People
President Yoon Suk-yeol stated on the 31st, "We must further develop our liberal democracy and, furthermore, extend freedom to the North, fully realizing the words of Jesus on this land." He also explained the true meaning of Jesus' resurrection as freedom and mentioned former President Syngman Rhee.
On the same day, President Yoon attended the 'Korean Church Easter Joint Worship Service' held at Myeongseong Church in Gangdong-gu, Seoul, and in his congratulatory remarks said, "Through the cross and resurrection, Jesus showed infinite love that liberates humanity from sin. I believe that practicing the spirit of love and solidarity so that everyone can enjoy true freedom is the path to fulfilling the true meaning of the resurrection."
The Easter Joint Worship Service has been held since the first service at Namsan in 1947 to celebrate Jesus' resurrection and share joy with the whole world. President Yoon's attendance at the Easter Joint Worship Service marks his third time, following 2022 and last year.

President Yoon first said, "We are currently facing serious challenges and crises both inside and outside the country. Internal conflicts within our society are increasingly becoming extreme, and the situation outside the country is not bright due to North Korea's threats and international instability." He urged, "At times like these, we must reflect on the true meaning of the resurrection and all practice it together."
To the members of the Korean Church, he said, "For the past 140 years, the Korean Church has greatly contributed to maintaining and developing our community. Whenever the country faced difficulties, it gave the courage to rise anew through tearful prayers and selfless dedication." He emphasized leading efforts to achieve national stability and the happiness of the people.
He continued, "Together with the government, we will humbly go deep into the hearts of the people and listen even to the smallest voices of the citizens," adding, "We will warmly care for and support those who are struggling and having a hard time so that they can stand up."
President Yoon also quoted Galatians 5:1, which was also the last words of former President Syngman Rhee: "For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery."
