Jo Hae-jin: "At this rate, a crushing election defeat... President Yoon must kneel before the people"

Cho Hae-jin, the People Power Party candidate for Gimhae-eul, Gyeongnam, demanded a public apology from President Yoon Suk-yeol on the 31st for this general election.

On the afternoon of the same day, Cho held an emergency press conference at the National Assembly in Yeouido, Seoul, stating, "If this continues, it will be a total defeat for the people, and the Republic of Korea will collapse. However, there is still a way to survive. President Yoon must kneel before the people."

He added, "President Yoon must sincerely reflect and reproach himself for turning the people's expectations into disappointment and anger," emphasizing, "He must be reborn as a humble president, a communicating president, and a competent president."

He advised, "The presidential office and the cabinet, responsible for the alienation of public sentiment, must be completely reorganized," and "The door to personnel appointments should be opened to outstanding talents, transcending political factions, regions, gender, and age, forming a dream team of the most capable individuals to be reassigned to the presidential office and the cabinet."

Cho stated, "Including myself, party-affiliated lawmakers must apologize for failing to care for the common people, the weak, the marginalized, and those suffering," and declared, "If our party does not become the first party in the National Assembly, all elected members must take responsibility for the people's distrust and judgment and resign from their parliamentary seats simultaneously at the start of the 22nd National Assembly term."

He also appealed, "The party that must be judged is the Democratic Party, a party specialized in judgment, obstruction, protection, and impeachment," and urged, "Through this general election, please grant the People Power Party, reborn on the side of public sentiment, the seats to lead and take responsibility for state affairs."
