Checking the Status of Agricultural and Livestock Supply Trends and Price Stabilization Policy Implementation

Song Miryeong, Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, visited large supermarkets and traditional markets on the 31st and stated, "We will actively strive to alleviate the burden of perceived inflation."

The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs is promoting comprehensive measures to stabilize agricultural product prices by closely cooperating with the distribution industry to reduce the price burden of agricultural and livestock products on the public.

In particular, since the 18th, an emergency price stabilization fund worth 150 billion KRW, announced at the 'Livelihood Economy Inspection Meeting,' has been swiftly injected to significantly expand and implement measures that directly reduce the burden on shopping baskets, such as supporting agricultural product delivery prices and expanding discount support.

On the morning of the same day, Minister Song visited Homeplus Gangseo Branch to observe the supply and demand trends of agricultural and livestock products and to check the progress of government support policies for price stabilization.

Homeplus has been continuously holding its own discount events in support of the government's efforts to stabilize prices. Until the 3rd of next month, it is running the 'Emergency Price Stabilization Project,' offering major fresh foods that affect table prices at unprecedented prices, along with the 'Encore! Homeplun' event, which expresses gratitude and support for the 27th anniversary exclusive super sale 'Homeplun.'

Through the Emergency Price Stabilization Project, various fresh foods such as fruits, vegetables, meat, and fish were made available at more reasonable prices. '12 Brix famous origin Fuji apples (4-7 pieces)' and 'Firm paprika' are sold at a 30% discount at the supermarket. 'Jirisan Seolhyang strawberries' and 'Dawn strawberries' (500g) are priced at 4,990 KRW each, '12 Brix Seongju melons' (3-5 pieces) at 9,990 KRW, Jeju silver cutlassfish (large) at 2,900 KRW, pollock (special) at 1,700 KRW per fish, and Happy eggs (30 count) at 4,990 KRW.

At the 'Encore! Homeplun' event, popular Homeplun products that led open runs are offered with 1+1 deals and discounts up to 50%. Cup noodles are sold at 4,490 KRW when purchasing 5 out of 20 varieties, multi-pack bagged noodles at 9,900 KRW when purchasing 3 out of 10 varieties, and biscuits, pies, and beverages (over 30 kinds) at 9,900 KRW when purchasing 3 items.

Minister Song said, "The government will continue to focus all efforts on price stabilization through policies such as delivery price support and agricultural discounts to stabilize people's livelihoods," and urged Homeplus officials to "continuously participate in government policies through minimizing price increases and holding their own discount events."

Song Miryeong, Visiting Markets and Marts Consecutively, "Will Actively Work to Alleviate Perceived Inflation Burden" Song Mi-ryeong, Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, visited Shinyoung Market located in Yangcheon-gu, Seoul on the 31st to check the progress of the traditional market supply price support project.

In the afternoon, Minister Song visited Shinyoung Market located in Yangcheon-gu, Seoul, to check the progress of the traditional market delivery price support project. Until now, the delivery price support project had been focused on large supermarkets, but the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, Seoul Agro-Fisheries & Food Corporation, Small Enterprise and Market Service, and the Seoul Merchant Association cooperated to expand the project to 11 traditional markets in Seoul from the 30th of this month to April 2nd.

The supported items are three products: apples, green onions, and napa cabbage. Through government delivery price support, four wholesale corporations’ own discounts at Garak Market, and logistics cost support (by Seoul Agro-Fisheries & Food Corporation), agricultural products could be supplied to traditional markets at affordable prices.

Minister Song said, "I ask for active cooperation from merchant associations and the distribution industry so that this delivery price support expansion can be extended throughout traditional markets," and added, "The government will actively work to alleviate the burden of perceived inflation for citizens visiting traditional markets by additionally issuing Zero Pay agricultural discount gift certificates (30% discount), which were previously issued only during holidays, and conducting additional on-site refund events for Onnuri gift certificates."
