2024 LG Electronics Soundbar Experience
Enhanced 'AI Room Calibration' Feature
Upgraded from 3 to 4 Wow Synergy Models
Seamless Soundbar Experience Even in Apartments
"Plan to Increase Compatibility with LG TV"
How great would it be if artificial intelligence (AI) could detect the size and shape of an indoor space and adjust the sound accordingly? A product that solves this common concern among sound enthusiasts has been released. It is LG Electronics' 2024 model soundbar.
On the afternoon of the 29th, visiting LG Electronics Seocho R&D Center and listening firsthand to the new LG soundbar model 'S95TR' transformed the listening space into a movie theater or concert hall.
The S95TR features a total of 15 channels (9.1.5), including the main unit equipped with three world-first up-firing speakers, a subwoofer producing bass, and rear speakers delivering surround sound. Its maximum output is 810 watts (W). The product's 'AI Room Calibration' function has been further enhanced to optimize sound by recognizing not only the listener's position but also the location of the rear speakers, allowing for distortion-free sound enjoyment.
Due to the characteristics of apartments, which are the most common type of residence for domestic users, there is a limitation in placing multiple speakers symmetrically because of spatial constraints. However, through the enhanced AI Room Calibration, even if the speakers are asymmetrically positioned, the AI automatically adjusts the sound according to the speaker locations to ensure uniform sound output.
The sound coming from multiple speakers created precise surround sound. In battle scenes of movies, when a fighter jet flies from left to right or a missile moves from bottom to top, the movement of the sound was fully perceptible, creating the illusion of being present at the scene in the movie.
Senior Acoustic Development Team member Kim Mingu explained, "Previously, AI Room Calibration was applied only to the soundbar and subwoofer, but this time, we developed a function that also recognizes the position of the rear speakers and optimally adjusts the sound, allowing users to experience superior audio compared to before."

The synergy with LG Electronics TVs was also notable. In this new product, the WOW synergy trio (WOW Orchestra, WOW Interface, WOW Cast) was expanded by adding the 'WOW Bracket,' completing the set of four WOW synergies. The WOW Bracket is a dedicated wall mount for the soundbar that allows direct connection between the TV and soundbar without additional installation such as drilling holes in the wall. Supporting wireless connection between rear speakers without messy cables made the installation space look neat, which was very appealing.
Senior Kim emphasized, "One of the concerns about using soundbars in apartment-style structures was installation, and we have reduced that concern. We addressed issues such as how well the sound fills a wide space and how clearly it can be heard even at lower volumes, satisfying the needs of customers purchasing soundbars."
Going forward, LG Electronics plans to develop soundbars with increased compatibility with TVs. In May, they will also release the 'S70TR,' which can be used with the premium LCD TV LG QNED TV. The domestic retail prices are 1,899,000 KRW for the S95TR and 699,000 KRW for the S70TR, respectively.
