Thrown Cushion into 1st Floor Garden Before Jumping
Transferred to Hospital but Ultimately Passed Away
A robber who was fleeing from the police died after jumping out of the 7th floor of an apartment.
On the 29th (local time), according to the Argentine media Perfil, crimes such as robbery are excessively frequent in Argentina, which is experiencing an economic crisis due to severe inflation and recession, making media reports rare. However, this incident attracted the attention of many media outlets due to the criminals' escape method and its tragic outcome.
According to reports, two armed robbers broke into an apartment in C?rdoba Province, central Argentina, on the morning of the 28th, where a 94-year-old retiree and a caregiver lived.
They deceived the security guard by wearing plumber uniforms and claiming they had come to repair the apartment. Upon reaching the 7th floor, they tied up the homeowner and the caregiver, but the caregiver escaped and reported to the police.
The police, upon receiving the report, immediately dispatched officers to the scene and began surrounding the entire apartment complex.
Startled, one of the robbers decided to escape by throwing several cushions into the garden on the 1st floor of the apartment and jumping onto them to flee. He actually threw himself toward the cushions.
However, he failed to land on the cushions, was seriously injured, and was taken to the hospital, where he eventually died. The accomplice was caught at the crime scene on the 7th floor of the apartment.
The victims did not suffer any significant injuries, and the 70,000 pesos (approximately 100,000 KRW) that the robbers tried to steal were fully recovered.
Meanwhile, on April 2nd last year, an incident occurred in Argentina where a duo of robbers snatched a money bag from a man who was depositing 7 million pesos (approximately 42.5 million KRW) at a bank, causing hundreds of bills to scatter in the wind onto the street.
Fifteen citizens passing by rushed to the scene and picked up the money, returning it all to the owner of the bag. With the help of the citizens, the man was able to recover all but 1% of the 7 million pesos, amounting to 70,000 pesos.
A resident living in the building across the street recorded the situation on camera and posted it on social media, spreading the man's story. Generally, netizens expressed disbelief that the citizens picked up the cash and returned it all to the original owner. Regarding the unrecovered 1% of the cash, speculations arose such as "it was blown further away by the wind" or "one or two people took it." The robbers who fled have not yet been caught. The police are tracking their whereabouts based on nearby closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage and testimonies from citizens present at the scene.
