Musical 'School of Rock' Busan Performance Opens April 2

At Dream Theater until April 14

The musical 'School of Rock' will open in Busan at Dream Theater on April 2, the production company S&Co announced on the 29th.

School of Rock is starting its world tour this year in Korea, having completed its Seoul performances at the Opera House of the Seoul Arts Center from January 12 to March 24. The Busan performances will run for two weeks until April 14, followed by shows in Hong Kong and China. In China, the musical is scheduled to be performed in eight cities including Shanghai.

School of Rock is a work by the 'musical maestro' Andrew Lloyd Webber, based on the 2003 film of the same name. It premiered on Broadway in 2015 and in the West End, UK, in 2016. It was first performed in Korea in 2019, and this year marks the second performance after five years.

The show consistently delivers a cheerful and lively story, featuring songs composed by Webber such as "You're in the Band," "Stick It to the Man," "Where Did the Rock Go," and "School of Rock," which bring great enjoyment to the audience.

Additionally, the story of the protagonist Dewey, who never gives up on his dreams, and the children who find their own dreams after meeting Dewey, provides a profound emotional impact. The average age of the young actors is only 12.5 years old, and their live performances on stage include singing, acting, and playing instruments such as electric guitars, which is a distinctive charm unique to School of Rock.

Along with the Busan opening, various exciting events will be held. Discounts of up to 30% are available for group bookings of 3 to 4 people, and a 30% discount is offered for student bookings. During the opening period, which includes five performances starting from the opening day, the Mercedes-Benz Opening Week event will take place. Wristbands allowing access to the curtain call will be given out, and Mercedes-Benz original collection items will be awarded through a raffle.
