Added Blood Pressure and Blood Sugar Measurements to Dolbom SOS... Seoul's First Service for Those Earning 130% of Median Income
Visiting Nurses Check Health Status, Provide Customized Counseling with Chronic Disease Prevention Guidelines
Filling Care Gaps in Emergencies... Provided 4,233 Assistance Cases to 2,282 People Last Year
Gwangjin-gu (District Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) has added blood pressure and blood sugar measurements to the 'Care SOS' project, which connects customized welfare services in emergency situations.
The district is the first in Seoul to expand the Care SOS target group to 130% of the median income standard and is promoting the project. It supports various areas such as household chores, residential convenience, and meal delivery. This year, in response to the increase in single-person households and aging population, the health management sector has been strengthened.
A professional visiting nurse directly checks the health status of the recipients. Along with measuring blood pressure and blood sugar, the nurse looks for other discomforts, informs about chronic disease prevention guidelines, and provides counseling assistance. For high-risk groups, continuous follow-up care is supported by connecting them with the Gwangjin-gu Public Health Center and the Donghaeng Center.
Last year, care services were provided 4,233 times to 2,282 people. Meaningful achievements were made, such as helping with household chores for those with mobility difficulties and installing safety rails in the home of an 86-year-old elderly living alone who was at high risk of falling to prevent accidents.
Kim Kyung-ho, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, said, “To strengthen the substance of the Care SOS project, we have expanded health management support, which is important in daily life,” and added, “We will build a more solid welfare network to provide prompt assistance in emergency situations.”
