Spring Flower Exhibition with Tulips, Ranunculus, and More Until the 7th of Next Month
Gwangyang City in Jeollanam-do is expecting the cherry blossom spots such as Seocheon Riverside, Baegundae in Geumho-dong, and Gayaro, where blooming was delayed due to cold snaps and lack of sunlight, to reach their peak this weekend.
Along the 3km stretch of Seocheon Riverside in Gwangyang, large cherry trees have started bursting their flower buds like popcorn, attracting the footsteps of citizens and tourists.
Adjacent to the Gwangyang Bulgogi Specialty Street, it is gaining popularity as a sensory-satisfying cherry blossom spot where visitors can enjoy Gwangyang Bulgogi and the fragrant flower path together.
In particular, the 1st Seocheon Blossom Festival will be held over two days on the 30th and 31st of this weekend at the Seocheon Riverside lawn area, offering various healing programs such as blossom performances and emotional picnics.
Programs providing unique experiences such as Blossom Highball, face painting, and children's hands-on activities are extensively prepared, allowing families and couples to create special memories.
In Geumho-dong, every year, a flower tunnel formed by about 4,300 cherry trees centered around Baegundae and a romantic night view unfold, drawing visitors lining up to take memorable photos.
The ‘Gayaro Cherry Blossom Road,’ a 3.5km stretch of the Gayasan Jungbok Road connecting Jungma-dong and Gwangyeong-dong, is popular as a romantic flower road where you can enjoy a fantastic cherry blossom drive.
The ‘Agricultural Technology Center,’ where weeping cherry blossoms flutter, will hold a spring flower intensive exhibition from the 25th of this month to April 7th. The spring flower exhibition features 15 kinds of spring flowers including pansies, ranunculus, and tulips, along with cozy photo zones such as a waterwheel, windmill garden, and thatched-roof house.
In addition, there are various plant exhibition halls lined up, including the foliage plant hall, herb plant hall, succulent plant hall, and wildflower exhibition hall, providing a variety of sights to see.
Kim Seongsu, head of the Tourism Division, said, “Although blooming was delayed due to abnormal weather, Gwangyang is expected to reach full bloom relatively earlier than other regions and peak this weekend,” adding, “We hope everyone enjoys the spring days along the vibrant cherry blossom roads of Gwangyang such as Seocheon, Baegundae, and Gayaro this weekend.”
