Using 34 Million KRW Proceeds to Create a Forest
Dongkuk Steel Group announced on the 29th that it conducted a volunteer activity to create a forest in Noeul Park, Mapo-gu, Seoul.
Dongkuk Steel Group created the forest using money raised by recycling resources. Over the past two years, employees donated and sold old electronic devices and outdated items. The accumulated proceeds amounted to a total of 33,539,620 KRW. Using these funds, 1,640 trees were planted in Noeul Park, Mapo-gu, Seoul.
The Noeul Park area was formerly a landfill site. It is now transforming into an environmental ecological park. The tree planting in Noeul Park is meaningful in that it restores a space damaged by humans through human hands.

Employees’ families also participated in the tree planting. A total of 51 people, including 36 employees and 15 family members, joined forces. From 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., each person planted 4 trees, totaling about 200 trees.
Weseongjae, an employee of Dongkuk Holdings who participated in the event, said, "It was a meaningful time to personally experience the importance of carbon reduction that I had only heard about through newspaper articles or word of mouth," adding, "I look forward to seeing the trees we planted today grow into a dense forest in 10 years."
On the day of the event, Dongkuk Steel Group operated a separate donation space to collect clothing, books, miscellaneous goods, and other items donated by employees. Based on its social contribution system 'Move together, Move Green' (Better Society, Sustainable Environment), Dongkuk Steel Group plans to actively fulfill its social responsibilities.
