Secured 4.2 Billion KRW in National Funding... Youth Culture Center Construction and Old Factory Renewal 추진
Muan-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Kim San) announced on the 29th that the Illo Agricultural and Industrial Complex was selected for the 2024 Agricultural and Industrial Complex Package Support Project, hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, securing 4.2 billion KRW in national funding.
The selected package project includes the construction of a Youth Culture Center and a youth-friendly renewal project for aging factories. The county plans to invest a total of 6 billion KRW, including local government funds, to improve the working environment in the Illo Agricultural and Industrial Complex, which has aged since its completion in 1992, transforming it into an industrial complex where young people want to work.
The Youth Culture Center construction project will invest a total of 5.7 billion KRW to remodel the currently used cafeteria and management office buildings into multipurpose meeting rooms, shared offices, club activity rooms, and management offices.
Additionally, a new two-story building will be constructed, with the first floor housing a cafeteria, caf?, and fitness room, and the second floor accommodating a dormitory with 13 rooms.
The dormitory is expected to encourage commuting workers from other regions and foreign workers to reside locally, contributing to population growth and revitalization of the local economy.
The youth-friendly renewal project for aging factories involves participation from 10 tenant companies, with 300 million KRW allocated for repairs of aging factory facilities and maintenance of welfare spaces.
The county actively identified necessary convenience facilities and environmental improvements for tenant companies and workers through regular meetings with the Illo Agricultural and Industrial Complex Council (Chairman Kim Dae-geun), resulting in this successful selection for the project.
Even after the project, proactive agreements have been signed with the cultural center, public library, health center, and five nearby villages to support programs and promote active operation.
Governor Kim San stated, “We expect significant improvements in the lacking convenience facilities and working environment in the Illo Agricultural and Industrial Complex, which contributes to local economic revitalization and job creation,” adding, “We will discover and promote various support projects to make Muan a city favorable for businesses.”
Meanwhile, the Illo Agricultural and Industrial Complex, located in Sangsingi-ri, Illo-eup, covers an area of 168,000㎡. Completed in 1992, it currently houses 23 companies employing 299 workers.
