Closing on the 31st... Citizens "Sad to Lose a Place of Family Memories"
Plan to Build One Hotel Building and Two Residential-Commercial Complexes on Hotel Site
Yuseong Hotel, which has upheld the reputation of Daejeon Yuseong Hot Springs for 109 years, will disappear into history after the 31st.
Having first opened in 1915, Yuseong Hotel was popular as a honeymoon destination and served as a bathhouse frequently visited by Daejeon citizens on holidays. The hotel will operate until the 31st before closing down.
On the 29th, Yuseong Hotel was visited by many cars filling the parking lot, and the hotel front desk, coffee shop, and large hot spring bath were all operating as usual. However, citizens expressed regret over the news that the 100-year-old Yuseong Hotel would be closing its doors.
On the 29th, Mr. Chae (80), who visited the large hot spring bath, said, "I used to come here to bathe every Yuseong market day for over 40 years, so it's disappointing," adding, "It's sad to see hotels that have upheld the reputation of Yuseong Hot Springs disappearing one by one."
Citizen Ms. Seo (61) expressed regret, saying, "Yuseong Hotel was where I first met my husband, and it was a memorable place we visited for family gatherings and family baths."
A representative of Yuseong Hotel stated, "We will operate only until the 31st and then close," adding, "About 100 employees will be scattered."

On the site of Yuseong Hotel, one hotel building and two residential-commercial complex buildings are expected to be constructed.
According to Daejeon City, Yuseong Hotel applied for a housing construction project plan on December 21 of last year, which is currently under review. The plan aims to build one hotel building with 213 rooms and two residential buildings with 536 households.
A city official said, "We are currently supplementing the matters under consultation and re-negotiating with related departments," adding, "Once re-negotiations are completed, the project plan will be approved and then announced."
