Illegal Cameras Found at 4 Early Voting Sites in Yangsan... Suspect Apprehended and Under Investigation

At an administrative welfare center in Yangsan, Gyeongnam, designated as an early voting station for the 22nd National Assembly election, an object suspected to be an illegal camera was discovered, and the police are currently investigating.


Yangsan Police Station announced on the 29th that they began an investigation after receiving reports on the 26th and 27th about unknown cameras installed at two administrative welfare centers in Yangsan.


According to the police, the cameras were each installed in the hallway leading to the auditorium on the second floor.


On the 28th, the police conducted an emergency inspection of administrative welfare centers within Yangsan city and discovered additional cameras installed in the hallways of two other centers.


The police found a total of four cameras at four administrative welfare centers in Yangsan and have started tracking suspects based on closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage.


In Incheon, cameras were also found at some administrative welfare centers designated as early voting stations for the general election, prompting a joint investigation by the police, who urgently arrested a suspect identified as Mr. A in his 40s.


Mr. A, who is active as a YouTuber, is suspected of secretly entering an administrative welfare center in Incheon, an early voting station, and installing illegal cameras.


The police are investigating Mr. A regarding whether he installed cameras at additional locations and his motive for the crime.
