Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-yeon expressed his anticipation on the 30th regarding the opening of the Metropolitan Area Express Railway (GTX) Line A, stating, "The GTX era, which Gyeonggi Province initiated, is fully opening after 15 years," and added, "It will create more opportunities in the lives of Gyeonggi residents."
On the 29th, Governor Kim visited Dongtan Station in Hwaseong to encourage on-site personnel and inspect the facilities. In a post on his social media, he recalled, "The GTX, which will completely transform the lives of Gyeonggi residents and the public, is finally running," and noted, "It has been 15 years since Gyeonggi Province first proposed and initiated this in 2009."
He continued, "Ahead of the official opening tomorrow, I inspected the Dongtan Station site," and introduced, "Now, it only takes 20 minutes to travel from Dongtan to Suseo."
In particular, he added, "The fast and convenient GTX will create more opportunities for Gyeonggi Province and its residents."
He also expressed his expectations for ‘The Gyeonggi Pass,’ which will be launched in May.
Governor Kim said, "The Gyeonggi Pass allows for GTX fare refunds, offering discounts of 20% for the general public, 30% for youth, and 53% for low-income groups," and explained, "For example, a youth can receive a refund of 1,340 won from the basic fare of 4,450 won for the Dongtan to Suseo route."
He further explained, "The Gyeonggi Pass has no limits on the number of refunds, regions, or modes of transportation."
Additionally, he promised, "Starting with the opening of the Paju Unjeong to Seoul Station section in December this year, GTX Lines B and C will be opened sequentially," and pledged, "Together with GTX, we will further open the era of Gyeonggi Province railways that connect new opportunities. We will definitely return one hour of daily commuting time to the residents."
