The Department of eSports Industry at Honam University held an international student exchange match in the Valorant game on the 27th in Lecture Room 5212, selecting players with five current students and five international students each.
The current student team was composed of Jeon Hyeongbin and four others, while the international student team consisted of Jang Jjaie and four others. The match was conducted on the Korean server, and the live screen was broadcast through the YouTube channel so that international students who did not participate in the exchange match, department student council executives, and professors could watch the progress together.
The exchange match was organized by the department student council as part of the "Getting Closer with International Students" program, with freshmen Choi Boseong and Kim Taekyung serving as observers and streaming the match on YouTube.
In May, an eSports tournament for all international students at Honam University is planned, and the department will actively participate in programs such as the "Global Kkanbu Program" conducted by the Office of International Affairs.
Kim Hongseo, a sophomore who participated as a team member in the exchange match, said, "I had hoped there would be more opportunities to meet international students. Although direct conversation was difficult during this exchange match, it was a chance to feel a sense of closeness by playing together in the game. I hope there will be more meetings with international students in the future so that we can have tea together and learn about the cultures of university students in China and Korea."
