Changwon Special City Successfully Hosts Tree Distribution Event ... Creating a Distinguished Urban Forest

Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam successfully completed the tree distribution event this year as well, receiving great response at four locations including the Meeting Plaza of Changwon Sports Park.

Hong Nampyo, Mayor of Changwon Special City, is distributing trees to citizens.

The tree distribution event was held on the 29th from 10 a.m. at the Meeting Plaza of Changwon Sports Park, Seohang Neighborhood Park in Masanhappo-gu, Masan Baseball Stadium, and Gwangseokgol Rest Area parking lot in Jinhae-gu. A total of 15,000 saplings of five species?mini roses, Korean boxwood (Cheonrihyang), pomegranate trees, sweet olive (Geummokseo), and ivy?were distributed on a first-come, first-served basis, with each person receiving up to three trees.

To minimize the inconvenience of citizens waiting in long lines, the distribution method was improved by issuing tree distribution tickets on-site on a first-come, first-served basis and only allowing those with tickets to receive the saplings.

Additionally, to prevent safety accidents, a safety management plan was established, and safety fences were installed along with the deployment of safety personnel to ensure thorough safety management.

Hong Nam-pyo, Mayor of Changwon Special City, stated, “I am pleased that the tree distribution event, held as part of the 20 million tree planting project, was safely completed with great response from citizens. We will continue to strive to create a dignified urban forest centered on the citizens.”
